After making a name for herself in the music industry as a songwriter, Ester Dean is ready to emerge in the forefront as an artist.
The 26-year-old announced in January via Twitter that she was signing a record deal with Roc Nation ( Rihanna, J. Cole and Rita Ora). She released her latest single, “Gimmie Money” featuring Nicki Minaj shortly after the announcement.
Although she hasn’t released an official date for her debut, the album is said to be out by the end of the year! But if you’re one of the people who doesn’t know who Ester Dean is already, Limerence is here to help! Here are ten things to know about Ms. Dean!
She’s from Oklahoma. She lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma until her teen years.
Her first official collaboration was with Chris Brown. In 2009, she released a music video for her song “Drop it Low” that featured a young Chris Brown. The two shared their amazing dance moves. “Drop it Low” was featured on More Than A Game soundtrack.
She’s the woman behind Rihanna’s hit singles. From “Rude Boy,” “S&M,” and “What’s My Name?” Ester penned it! All three songs were on the top ten of Billboard Hot 100.
You can see her on the big screen. Ester will be starring in the upcoming film, Pitch Perfect with Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Brittany Snow. She plays a member of an all girl a cappella group that plans to compete against a group of guys.
She did a voice over for Ice Age 4: Continental Drift. She plays the Sloth Siren.
She scored an Olympic Honor. She penned the song, “We Are An Olympic Family” for the Olympics US official video. Keke Palmer performed the song.
You will hear her lyrics on your favorite film soundtracks. Ester Dean wrote songs for The Lorax and Burlesque.
Nicki Minaj isn’t the only one proud of the smash hit, “SuperBass.” The super-addictive hook on the track was written by Ester.
Oh and she raps too! Ester Dean released a couple of her new songs for fans. One of the songs “Bam Bam” showcased her rapping skills.
She can add award-winning to her accolades. She won the award for Songwriter of the Year at the 60th Annual BMI Pop Awards.
